Christmas Lunch – December 12
Bright skies and things looked promising but the cursed wind was back again! Never mind there was plenty of banter and good food to be had.
We were fortunate again to have our good friends join us from the Roaring Forties Aeromodellers. Whilst all could not make it due to other commitments, Mike Rutledge, Tony and Elaine Gray and Peter Allen made the trip up north. Thank you!
Kerry and the girls had put together a christmas feast that would please anyone looking for good food and value for money. There was ham on the bone, roast chicken, potato bake, coleslaw, potato and rice salad, fruit cake and much much more – all for just $15pp! There was no shortage of people clamouring for seconds so it must have been good. Thanks to Kerry, Alice, Gloria, Faye and Tanya for helping with food and assistance. Also a thank you to Elaine Gray for her help in the “kitchen”.
The Christmas lunch also brings out a a few members and partners whom we don’t see very often, Tim Sydes, Peter Daniel, “Doc” and Jenny Baldock. It is always great to see members join in the Christmas festivities.
Due to the wind very few took to the skies but some brave pilots had a go. Peter Daniel and Doc were in the brave category. They took out a sports model that looked the same inverted as it did upright and this proved fatal. Peter was doing a high speed, inverted low pass and yes, you guessed it, pulled up instead of pushed down – the result is in the pictures below.
Kerry did another fantastic job with the raffle that raises much needed funds for the club. Faye drew the winner and the winner was Kevin Hay. Well done Kev!
Notwithstanding the unfavourable weather that limited flying, another great Christmas Lunch was had and the camaraderie was at the forefront.
Some pictures from the day.
