Hi Everyone-Well another month has almost gone and it is only a few days to go before it will be officially winter, it will be interesting to see what happens this year if we get those heavy rains that we have had these last 2 years.
There are a few items to pass on to you all from our last committee meeting, as we have said last month we now have been relocated and most of the jobs associated with that have been attended to.
A concrete path from our clubhouse to our new toilet has been completed, so as far as the immediate clubhouse precinct is concerned a fence is yet to be built to keep our 4legged woolly critters away from making themselves at home on our concreted area as they did a while ago is still to be done very shortly then it will all be completed.
Our discussion then moved out from our clubhouse to discuss the pit area to the flight line. This is what your committee have determined, at a suitable distance from the clubhouse it is proposed to place a line of demarcation across and signage as we had before at the old site where as no unauthorised person will be allowed access in to the pit area. This is a requirement of safety if those persons are not covered by our club insurance and they most probably won’t be if they are casual visitors, then they cannot enter that area.
Then a line is to be established approx 2-3 Metres back from the edge of the strip as a pilot’s flight line.It is common sense that after takeoff has been completed then a pilot moves back behind the flight line to continue his flight, this also is a safety measure and a convenience to others who are flying at the time or are about to take off.
All of these measures are meant to keep everyone safe and NOT to be a hassle and a nuisance.
Further to all these things comes the matter of coming to the field and setting up, and to streamline this it is proposed that when pilots come to the field they have 2 choices of setting up:-
- Come up to the rear of clubhouse, park your vehicle and carry your gear to the pit area. OR
- Drive around the northern side of clubhouse through between the clubhouse and pit line unload then drive on around the southern side of the mower/toilet shed and park in the parking area behind the clubhouse.
- NO CARS TO BE LEFT IN THE DRIVE THROUGH AREA.
The poll taken recently on the proposed charging station resulted in the affirmative , this of course will take some expense to make it happen and this will be a target for this new financial year to be done as soon as practical.
You are all aware that we decided at our last AGM to place a $25.00 levy on subscription for this last financial year, it is now proposed that we can return to the old rate for this New Year coming. But of course this will be determined at our AGM in 3 weeks time after we know what the MAAA and TMAA have set their fees at.
It is to be noted that the decision of the members at the last AGM to set that levy was a good choice as whilst our funds took a hammering, we are still afloat and have a better site and facilities now than we had at the old site and assured of a long tenure if we all keep in mind that we must always be thinking of respecting the property that we fly on or over.
Our Annual General Meeting occurs in 3 weeks time 3rd of June at the Kings Meadows health centre starting at 7.30 PM, maybe a little later as the room will be occupied till 7.30 by another group.
At this meeting we will confirm minutes of last meeting– receive reports President-Secretary- Treasurer –Appoint the Auditor for the next year –and elect the office bearers whose term expires at this AGM—and consider any general business.
Those whose terms expire at this meeting are: – Vice President currently held by Merv Cameron. Treasurer currently held by George Carnie – committee man currently held by Owen Cameron.Secretary Public Officer currently held by G Hays.
After serving consecutively for the last 10 years in the capacity of Secretary PO I feel that the time has come for me to retire from this position of responsibility seeing that I have had 2 heart attacks the last being last year on the 27th August. Had I not made it in time to hospital that would have left an issue which would not easily have been sorted out by my family and the club in regards to club property which the Secretary has at his home, as the home of the secretary elect is the office of the club.I always have enjoyed serving the club and still do but sometimes things happen that need a change of direction.
Well as I usually say that about wraps it up for me so
Happy flying and safe landings to all
