Hi Everyone,
Well here we are almost at the end of another year my how time FLY’S! No pun intended but really the past year has just slipped away and we are approaching the doorway to a brand new year and all that it may bring to us as a club.
Certainly the New Year will in many ways bring a new start for our club as we ultimately settle into our new site within the next few months, it is all about to happen most probably December Sat 8th or Sun the 9th will most likely be clubhouse lifting and relocating day, this depends on 2 things weather and the availability of Danny Pfeiffer and his Crane.
Our Webmaster George sent out an item recently with some details for the membership relating to some of this I shall include with this report to those who are not on electronic receipt of our reports so that you will be up to speed as it were.
For the benefit of those who may not be aware, and that would be quite a few of our current membership, I share a few facts of our recent past.
This club was known as The Evandale RC model aircraft club Inc having been incorporated on the 24th July 1984, and was at the time flying off the property called “Logan” East of Evandale. Due to circumstances that had arisen we were required to move from that property and in the process of time we were able to be granted by the Youl family access to the site that we now have occupied for the past 25years.
The Club moved onto Symmons Plains on the 14th November 1987 and it was here that we changed our incorporated name to The Launceston Model Aero Club Incorporated on 2nd October 1992.
We started work on our Clubhouse on the 8th May 1993 and it was opened by the Hon Frank Madill the Minister for police at the time, on the 12th December 1993 on the weekend that LMAC Inc hosted the first State Pattern Championships that had not been held in this State for quite a few years.
Frank Madill presented the Trophies for that event to the winners.
There was also at that event a contingent from the Mainland APA headed by Henry Hutchinson who at the time had nothing but praise for our magnificent flying site.
John and Shirley Youl were among the invited guests on that occasion.
We have not really anything to report on from our last committee meeting as most of the meeting was taken up with general housekeeping items and of course the big move.
We will not be having another committee meeting now till the 11th of February 2013.
The Committee wishes all our members a safe-happy Christmas and a bright and prosperous new year ahead with plenty of great flying weather and of course
Happy flying and safe landings from your committee
Geoff Hays
