Hi All,
Well what a winter we have had and it is not over yet, more water than we could possibly image we would get.
But better days are on the way and I suppose it could give many the opportunities to be in the workshop building new creations.
At your committee’s last meeting we have finalised a couple of the positions that seemed to be a bit unsure as to what was going to happen from our last meeting.
The position of club contest director has been changed from what was mentioned in our last Newsletter, We are pleased to welcome into this position one of our newer members John Moody who will undertake this task.
Some of our members possibly will not as yet have met John who lives in Georgetown and has a firm interest in control line flying, but he has a wing status of Gold power instructor rating, so do welcome him as you meet him on the field.
The other position that has been swinging you might say is of Newsletter Editor and this has not produced anyone to put up their hand to have a crack at this, so your committee has made the decision to discontinue at least for a while this position.
So NO newsletter from now on, but we will keep the members informed of what is happening in the club in other ways such as on our club web site.
You will get a Secretary’s report such as this after every committee meeting with my usual banter of words and other news when it comes to hand that the members need to know.
Of course there is always room for members to write an article for other members benefit and this then can then be e-mailed to our Webmaster George Carnie for inclusion on the web site.
Those and there are not many now of our members who do not have internet access I shall post the news to their address but It does make a lot more sense if all were able to access this medium
It is so easy and informative and keeps ALL up to date of what is happening.
The committee realises that many of our members who have been to the field lately are wondering what is happening with the property now that it has changed hands, what with fences being removed and pipes being laid out across the paddocks and concrete pads being laid.
Well the fact of the matter is that to the present time we have not had anything of a definite nature to convey to the members but this is about to happen very soon. The club’s liaison officer with the land owner is about to get confirmation as to what is going to happen that deals of where we as a club are concerned.
I can say this that the club will be able to fly at Symmons Plains into the foreseeable future so do not get overly concerned that we will not have anywhere to fly.
Well back to something more joyous Birthdays yes they still happen to all of us the more the better, bad news when they stop. So birthdays for July and August are; –
July- Steve Baldock and Alan Johnson
August – Gerry DeGroot and Tim Sydes
We do hope they all have had or going to have a great day on their special day and throughout the coming year happy Birthday to you all.
That is about it from me for now
I do wish you all great flying and most of all many
Happy landings
Geoff.
*As the club’s “liason officer”, I will compile a report on discussions that have been held and place this on the web site in the coming days. Negotiations have been very positive but have taken time to evolve so please be patient. George (Report can be found here)
